Let’s be honest a clean car that is overflowing with that new car smell makes you want to invite total strangers to come and sit in your car just so they can experience a tiny semblance of the joy that you get to inhale on every commute. A clean and fresh smelling car makes every journey that much more enjoyable so here are Uchanics’ top 4 tips to keep you car clean and smelling great!

Step 1 – Remove Clutter and Garbage.

The first and most essential step to cleaning your car is to understand what belongs and does not belong in your car. Yes, we know that you think you need all of those gas station receipts and those ten pens and that half full water bottle (the glass is always half full… #motivation) that you just can’t seem to finish but the truth is you more than likely do not need any of those things, at least not in your car. Start by removing any clutter and garbage that might be piling up in your vehicle; discarded food that fallen into crevices are a major source of foul odors. Check under and in between seats and remove any old french fries, pieces of candy and any other foods and garbage that you may find… your nose and the noses of your passengers will be thanking you (I don’t know how noses say thanks but when they do I’m sure you’ll know it.)

Step 2 – Sprinkle Baking Powder On Your Carpet.

This step is a simple one, sprinkle either scented or unscented baking powder on the flooring throughout your car, you can even sprinkle some in your trunk. Baking soda is known to neutralize bad odors so sprinkle this product and allow it to sit for at least ten minutes and then lovingly vacume your car, the fresh scent will sit in your car for up to a month.

Step 3 – Wipe Down Your Interior

Sticky stains, dusty dashboards and door handles covered in, “I have no idea what that is.” Can create bad odours and make your car look unclean. Every month or two is a perfect time to take the time and run a scented car wipe throughout the interior of your car. The cleaning wipe will add a nice smell to your car and it will also cause your door handles, dashboards to almost glow like new. There are many different wipes designed specifically for your vehicle’s interior, i.e. plastic, wood, leather and so forth. Choose your cleaning supplies based on your car’s interior and then have fun.

Okay, great, you’ve done it! You’ve uncluttered and you’ve cleaned your car and we know that the urge to spend the rest of the day gazing into the polished interior of your car with a proud smile on your face is strong in you but you must resist… you still have one more important thing to do… you still have to put the icing on the cake. Conclude all of your hard work by picking the right scent for your car. There are many premade air fresheners that you can purchase; these fresheners range from sprays, clip on vent air fresheners, and even those little trees that everyone hangs from their mirror.
