Labour is calculated by Multiplying the length of time it will take to do the repairs by the Hourly Rate
The term may be considered a misnomer since the controller operates the relay, and not the other way round. Still, the important functions of the anti-lock control relay system cannot be overstated
The relay operates the pump and helps in pressurizing the brake fluid in the accumulator of the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS). Thus, a failed anti-lock control relay will make it difficult for the pump to effectively build up the pressure in the accumulator.
Much like electrical components, your anti-lock control relay may wear after extended periods of use, in which case it could fail and cause the ABS warning light in the dash to come on.
Note:
– Extended periods of use can cause your anti-lock control relay to wear
– The relay is only checked when a fault is detected in the ABS system
– Car pump issues or blown fuses may present as anti-lock relay problems.
Anti-lock Brake System light stays on
The pump driving the ABS system fails to work
The ABS system does not operate efficiently
With a faulty anti-lock brake system, avoiding collisions and driving tricky terrains will become difficult since stopping distances will increase. Normal (manual) braking features may still be possible, but driving your car will be severely risky. Consult a professional when you detect signs of a faulty ABS system.
Getting started
-Check the relay system for any faults
-Remove the faulty anti-lock relay and install a new one
-Test drive car to ensure proper operation of the new relay
Recommendation:
A functional anti-lock control system sends electricity to the pump that regulates the pressure in the accumulator. A poorly functional relay will, therefore, impede pressure regulation in the accumulator. And while the brakes may still work, more pressure will be required to apply them, thereby making driving difficult. A best practice would be to ensure your brake system is regularly checked and the relay system replaced promptly when problems are detected.
