Brake Pedal is Pulsating/Vibrating Inspection Service

Disk brakes offer superior performance and stopping power over older style drum brakes. In addition, they may often come with an ABS system for improved braking when driving on wet conditions. If you experience a pulsating/ vibrating brake pedal after applying it, our expert mechanics are always ready to help. So book an inspection service with one today if you find out the cause of the problem.

The Disc brake system:

Friction is key for disc brake function. This friction, created when the rotor is squeezed between the brake pads by the caliper, allows you to slow down your car, but also gives off heat. Increased overheating leads to high spots on the surface of the rotors, and this can end up warping it when it is immediately cooled, for example by driving through a puddle. Warped brake pads will ultimately skip and grab while moving over the rotor. This movement comes off as a pulsating feel when the pedal is applied. The ABS system may also be the cause of pulsation, especially when it only occurs when driving on wet conditions or making a hard stop.

Why this problem occurs:

  • High Spots on Rotors: You are likely to have a pulsating brake pedal when high spots develop on the rotors. Rotor wear and abnormal brake pad may also be experienced. The way out? Resurfacing. However, if already worn, the rotors may need to be replaced.
  • Warped Rotors: A pulsating brake pedal could also be caused by warped rotors. Sure, they can also be resurfaced, but severe warping should be fixed by having a new replacement.
  • No problems with the ABS operation: In some cases, especially when the pulsating feel is experienced less frequently or in wet driving conditions, there may be no cause for alarm. Chances are that ABS operation is normal and an inspection should help to confirm this.
  • Thinning Brake Fluid: The brake fluid should be replaced frequently, as is done for the transmission fluid and engine oil. Brake fluid thinning may occur due to increased absorption of moisture, which can lead to poor brake performance and a pulsating pedal. You want to make changes every two years, or even more frequently, depending on your driving behavior.

Getting started:

An expert will have your car inspected for likely problems with the rotors, brake pads and brake fluid. A report will also be provided stating the cause of the problem, extent of damage and cost of repairs to be made.

The process:

A best practice is to hire a professional mechanic to have your entire braking system inspected. Worn or warped rotors are often implicated, but other causes cannot be ruled out too. Your car may be raised on jack stands and the wheels removed to ensure the rotors and pads are inspected properly.

Why this service is important

The braking system is absolutely important for safe driving. With a pulsating or vibrating brake pedal, driving convenience will not only be affected, extensive damage to the pad and calipers may also occur if the problem is left unattended. Ensure to prevent risky driving by having a professional mechanic inspect your braking system if you experience a pulsating brake pedal.

They are very responsive and helpful. I sent in a request at 2PM today for a car inspection service within 5 hrs - they were very accommodating and were able to schedule a mechanic for me. Raymond arrived at my location on time and he was very friendly and thorough. He walked me through everything that he checked step by step and even taught me how to check some parts myself. They sent in a complete report to me within 2 hours and called to make sure everything went well after. Great and professional services, also very convenient! would definitely recommend

I got a PPI inspection for a car I wanted to purchase. Book and inspection was done in a coordinated way. Billing was comfortable. Report was provided same day, Jamal called me and give me advise and further information on the condition of the car. Sound and balanced advice. They work for you. If you are buying a car, get it inspected by them. I would recommend.

These guys are pro. I found them through google and wanted a second opinion on a car from a private seller that I was buying. I literally have 0 knowledge about mechanic so having someone examining the car and giving me their opinion as key. Im glad to say that the examination was so through that even my seller was impressed by uchanics. 100% recommended, they even called me and gave me further advice regarding pricing and negotiations to bring the price to a fair deal
